SANSHIN-KAN is a dynamic, efficient and practical style that combines practical self-defense & Close Combat techniques, traditional Okinawan Karate and Modern scientific knowledge.
The teaching method enables individual progress and imparts high mental and physical abilities, e.g. coordination, flexibility, self-control, concentration and breathing techniques.
SHITO RYU 糸東流
The founder of Shito-Ryu is Mabuni Kenwa Sensei (1889 - 1952), 17th generation to Keimochi dynasty (Aristocratic title of ranked families in Okinawa).
At the age of 13 Mabuni Sensei learned Shuri-Te from Itosu Anku, which was already 70 years old.
Later on Mabuni was taught Kempo by the Chinese teacher Gokenki and then
he practiced Naha-Te Karate as well from Higashiona Kanryu. Mabuni was taught and practiced with well known teachers as Aragaki Kamadeuncu (1840 - 1920), Sueyoshi Jino (1846 - 1920) and Tawada Shimbuku (1851 - 1920).
Mabuni Sensei wanted to create a single style that characterizes Okinawan Karate and this is the reason why Shito-Ryu syllabus includes a vast collection (60 - 70) of katas.
Mabuni combined Shuri-Te and Naha-Te into a single style and called it "Han-Ko Ryu" (half hard style) but later on he diverted the name to "Shi-To Rru" in owner of his two teachers ("Shi" - first kanji of Itosu, "To" - first kanji of Higashiona).
Later on Shito Ryu was divided to five streams: Kempo-Kai, Itosu-Kai, Shito-Kai, Sei-Shin-Kai and Shuko-Kai.
SANSHIN-KAN 彡身館
SHITO RYU SANSHIN KAN KARATE DO is derived from SHURI-TE, NAHA-TE and TOMARI-TE streams.
The term "SAN" (three in Japanese) stands for: Tradition, Spirit and Justice.
SANSHIN-KAN founder, Soke Tamas Weber, has established the style tracking the deep knowledge and vast experience he accumulated in close combat fighting during war as a commander in the Foreign Legion.
Soke Weber is well recognized as one of the Europe's premier close combat experts and he has trained Police and Armed Forces in close combat and self-defense in various countries e.g. USA, Canada, France, Turkey and Israel.
SANSHIN-KAN organization was established in the year of 1969.
The roots in Israel are laid in 1975 when there was a first visit of well known high ranking Karate teachers from Europe and Japan in Israel. It was the first time that SANSHIN-KAN founder, who is titled today officially as "Soke", visited Israel with another two Japanese teachers. There was a show which was recorded on the Israeli television. In 1978 Arye Berko Sensei established the main branch ("Honbu Dojo", 本部 道場) in Israel while another Dojo was established by Isaac Florentine Sensei in Tel Aviv. In the years 1984 - 1988 the Dojo in Tel Aviv has been functioned has the Honbu Dojo in Israel and since 1988 up to present days SANSHIN-Kan is orderliness active while the Israeli Honbu Dojo is in Haifa and Effi Schleyen Sensei is the head of SANSHIN-KAN in Israel.
Up to 1986 "Soke Weber" visited Israel to teach in GASHKOs (training camps) once a year. Acceding to student's request, Mr. Weber has kindly positively responded and started to visit Israel since 1986 on twice a year regular base in order to teach and share his vast knowledge with his students.
Today the organization enumerates around 10 branches in Israel.
