Israel Levi Sensei

Publicist and Art Administrator. Born on April 1949.

Served in one of the top Special Forces in the I.D.F. and worked in the Israeli security system after completing his military service.

Israel Sensei has stepped into Karate more then 35 years ago, and joined to Sanshin-kan at the very first days of the organization in Israel.

He started his practice in Shotokan Karate on 1971 under the teacher “Redhead Eliezer” and continued under Bob Tween Sensei. Later on Israel Sensei has joined to Sanshin-Kan under Ariye Berko Sensei.

Since then Israel Sensei is a member of Sanshin-Kan organization and is active in the Israeli Hombu-Dojo in Haifa with Effi Schleyen Sensei under the supervision of Kancho Tamas Weber, head of Sanshin-Kan International.

Israel Sensei wrote two books, “The Axe”, an action story which is based on true story from his military past and “Blue-Zen”, a wonderful poetry book.

He rationally succeed to combine the Karate in other personal fields in life e.g. a publicist lecture in marketing that he instructed, while he integrated Karate examples to demonstrate common lines between Karate strategies and marketing strategies.

Israel Levi says: ”I see Karate not only as fighting art but also as a way of life – The Art of Life – a canal to create a dialog between a person to him/her self and to the human and physics surrounding them. Giving respect to others and to the environment with true modesty, attentive listening and diligent learning from the environment, devoid of stigmas: big and small, advanced and beginners, strong and weak – we all teachers and practitioners who walk on same path using the instruments we were born with and the ones we accumulated during our life to strengthen ourselves physically and mentally in our long tiring march through our common path within a will to assist the ones who need our abilities, in order to get there while we’re spiritually completed!”.

Effi Schleyen: ”Israel Levi Sensei is a senior student (Sempai) and a teacher in Sanshin-Kan and although he doesn’t officially teach, teachers turn to him has ‘Sensei’ due to his unique experience and special eclectic eyesight. When we, the teachers, face him, we ponder who the student is and who the teacher is”.
